FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, AND FAIRNESS

After I read ‘Kesan Kebiadaban di Dunia Siber’ a very good article written by Dr Rahmat Ghazali, I realize that in status quo Malaysian love to talk about freedom, democracy, and fairness. So, I would like to give my opinion on those 3 ideas that keep on appear in all types of media either electronic or mass media.

There are no such thing as absolute freedom in this world because everything have its limit and boundaries. Even if United States of America claim that they were free country but in reality they were not and in fact US government violate human right through Patriot Act. So, its prove that absolute freedom only can occur in the dream.

The big question that come to my mind is that Freedom will bring positive or negative effect toward society? Let’s look at our country for instance, people get the freedom in cyber world but they are tend to misused it to something against society norm and culture. In example, Malaysian love to curse to each other through online world or pornography become a new trend and one of the most search in the search engine such as Yahoo, Google, or MSN.

In latest issue, BAR council want the freedom for Gay, Lesbian, Transsexual, and Bisex group of people. Their organize a forum just to promote freedom for those group which totally against our culture and most important against all religion in our country. This is what happen when we give a bit of freedom, certain people will take advantage and ask for more which will harm our society.

Some Malaysian love to define democracy in their own way and think that liberal democracy is the best system for this nation. For some people what benefits them they call it democracy but when it against them, they call it dictatorship, injustice, bias, corrupted and many more. That why they always use democracy as their reason to create civil unrest and chaotic in major town like Kuala Lumpur.

Then they said about the concept of fair and equality, which some will argue that Malaysia is an Islamic country so she must have equality to be fair for all. But we failed to understand the concept of fair from Islamic perspective. Because according to Islam ‘adil itu adalah meletakkan hak kepada yang berhak’ or in English we give the right to the right person and it is not about equality. Equality is the idea that being brought by the communist group which can be considered as terrorist in our history.

It is very sad when our youth believe in the concept of equality which were the main ideology of the group of people that killed thousand of Malaysian in our history.

People should deeply understand about the concept of freedom, democracy, and fairness to make sure that they were not get confuse and easy to be fooled by irresponsible persons that will harm the future of our nation.

For me,,freedom is laid down in the Quran itself. There is no compulsion in the Islam...but as a country that practices Islamic values, we should better understanding about the concept of freedom itself even our country is now independent

True indeed, to have a total freedom and fairness in a democracy regime is a total fallacy. The word democracy itself obviously shows that the freedom given will reach certain limits. For ex-By having a democracy concept, there are voting rights as well as separation of powers amongst the governement body. Montesquieu has propagated that separation of powers is essential as to curb the abuse of power. This indicates that when a concept is created for good, then definitely another concept will be created as a limit indicator to the previous one. This whole agony, potrays what we called as human nature. There are no 2 similar person in this world. When a person thinks A, another might think it is B or rather C.So, when a person claims that he or she should be given for example a freedom of speech as in Article 10 of Federal Constitution, the second person might abuse the freedom given by causing harm to other person. So there is where our sedition law plays their role as a limitation to the freedom of speech. Therefore, a total freedom and fairness through the concept of democracy is actually a fallacy.
